Kenny Tweedy

Kenny Tweedy is talented multi-intrumentalist performing Traditional Irish Music on the Button Accordion and Tenor Banjo. Kenny is an seasoned musician with more than thirty years of experience performing in a wide range of genres on a variety of instruments. Over the years he has performed as lead guitarist of the French rock band Camion Poubelle, as a solo classical guitarist, and as a solo singer songwriter.

Kenny discovered the Austin Irish music scene and developed an obsession with Irish music in 2002. After dabbling on the whistle, guitar, and mandolin, he switched to the IrishTenor banjo. Kenny quickly mastered a vast repertoire or hundreds of Irish jigs & reels.

Around the same time, Kenny started playing the button accordion. Kenny has since studied with master button accordion player Jackie Daly and emulates Jackie's smooth flowing style on the C#/D accordion.

In addition to the Banjo & Accordion, Kenny is highly proficient on the guitar, mandolin, tenor guitar, bouzouki, harmonica, melodeon, bodhran, and whistle. He also enjoys singing traditional Irish and American ballads. Kenny hosted a Celtic song session at Things Celtic the from 2003-2006.

Chip Ueltschey

Chip Ueltschey is a powerhouse of rhythmic energy. He has been administering a spoonful of whoop-ass at the weekly Irish Traditional tune sessions in Austin for years. In Gan Fidil he has found the freedom to explore seeking to stay true to the heart of the tradition while bringing influences from Funk & Jazz.

Before coming to Austin Chip fronted the band Seven Chords Short in Starkville, Mississippi. He has played in several projects in Austin including That Old Guy in the Pub, which performed live on the KUT public radio show Eclecticos in 2001.

Chip served the treasurer of the Austin Celtic Association from 2003-2007. The ACA presents the Austin Celtic Festival the first weekend in November each year. Chip is a strong advocate for the promotion and development of Celtic Culture in Austin, Texas. Chip envisions the band Gan Fidil as a modern expression of living Celtic culture with aspirations to advance and develop Celtic traditional music.
